Coral Gables, FL -- (Sports Network) - The 22nd-ranked Miami Hurricanes are clearly favored in today's non-conference home clash with the Stetson Hatters.

On Monday, Stetson broke a school record for the fewest points allowed in a game, as they knocked off Johnson & Wales by a 59-36 final. The Hatters are now 2-2, and they did play one other ranked team thus far. Stetson opened its season against Texas in Austin, and the result of that tilt was a 68-38 defeat.

As for Miami, it owns a 3-1 record and won two of the three games that it played at the Paradise Jam from November 21-24. On Monday, the Hurricanes completed play at the event with an 80-45 romp over San Diego, helping remove some of the sting from a 13-point loss to UConn in the previous outing.

The Hurricanes own a 45-33 series lead over Stetson, including an 89-53 romp over the Hatters last season.

Stetson did not play well at the offensive end against Johnson & Wales last time out, as the Hatters connected on only 31.7 percent of their field goal attempts, including a 9-of-33 effort from three-point range. They turned the ball over 17 times and even missed 10 of their 22 free throws. Fortunately, Stetson earned a 50-33 rebounding advantage, including an 18-6 edge on the offensive glass. Also, the Hatters forced 17 turnovers and limited their overmatched opponents to 27.1 percent overall shooting, including 1-of-10 from behind the arc. Tim Lang led the way in the win with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while both Garfield Blair and Kris Thomas pitched in 11 points. Blair is averaging a team-high 13.8 ppg this season, and he is also tops with 8.0 rpg. Thomas checks in with 11.0 ppg, and A.J. Smith tallied 10.5 ppg. The Hatters are only scoring 59.5 ppg on 34.2 percent field goal efficiency.

Miami earned a 42-28 rebounding advantage over San Diego last time out, including a 14-8 edge on the offensive glass. The Hurricanes also played tremendous defense, limiting the Toreros to 32.7 percent shooting from the floor, including 23.1 percent in the second half. A total of 15 forced turnovers also helped the cause. Brian Asbury scored 14 points off the bench to lead Miami. Jimmy Graham tallied 11 points and 13 rebounds, while Cyrus McGowan and Lance Hurdle pitched in 10 points each. Overall this season, Jack McClinton leads the 'Canes in scoring with 16.8 ppg despite a sub par performance against San Diego, Dwayne Collins adds 14.0 ppg and 10.8 rpg, and both players will attempt to play better against the Hatters than they did against the Toreros.
