Minneapolis, MN -- (Sports Network) - Colton Iverson scored a career-high 20 points to power the Minnesota Golden Gophers to an 88-67 decision over the Eastern Washington Eagles in a non-conference battle. Blake Hoffarber tallied 12 points for Minnesota (5-0), which got 11 points apiece from Jamal Abu-Shamala, Damian Johnson and Devron Bostick. Benny Valentine poured in 29 points in the setback for Eastern Washington (3-2), while Brandon Moore contributed 13 points and nine rebounds. Minnesota led 47-29 at intermission after shooting a blistering 63.3 percent from the floor in the first half. While the Golden Gophers weren't quite as efficient in the second half, their 53.6 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes enabled them to seal the victory. Minnesota finished the game with 22 assists against only nine turnovers, and the team earned a 31-26 rebounding advantage as well.
