NCAA Game Summary - Montana At Duke

Sunday, November 23, 2008

(Sports Network) - Gerald Henderson had 14 points and seven rebounds as 10th-ranked Duke blew out Montana, 78-58, at Cameron Indoor Stadium.

Nolan Smith added 14 points while Kyle Singler had 13 points, five rebounds and three assists for the Blue Devils (6-0), who hold a 63-game homecourt winning streak against non-conference opponents and are fresh off a tournament title in the 2K Sports Classic Benefiting Coaches vs. Cancer.

"I think today we did a good job against a team that played really hard against us," said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. "To me, it capped off a great week for us...I thought our kids played hard for all four games [this week], and they played hard again today."

Jordan Hasquet had a game-high 15 points and added seven rebounds while Jack McGillis added nine points for the Grizzlies (2-2), who had won their previous two games.

Trailing early in the first half, Duke went on a 9-0 run to take the lead for good and had an 18-13 advantage as Singler was fouled making a layup and he hit the free throw.

After Derek Selvig hit a three to stop the bleeding for Montana, the Blue Devils scored nine unanswered points again for a 27-16 advantage with about nine minutes to play in the first half.

At the end of 20 minutes of play, Duke took a 47-28 lead into the locker room.

Six straight points from the Grizzlies cut their deficit to 54-41 a bit over five minutes into the second half.

Duke, though, scored the next eight points and Henderson's slam with 10 1/2 minutes to play made it a 62-41 game.

The closest Montana was able to get for the remainder of the game was 16 points as the Blue Devils coasted to the finish line.

Game Notes:

Duke next plays on Friday when the team will host Duquesne...This was the first meeting ever between these two programs...Montana shot 46 percent from the floor, but committed 20 turnovers...Duke connected on 45.3 percent of its shots and outrebounded Montana, 42-26...Duke's Greg Paulus sat out with a bruised forearm.
