GAME NOTES: A couple of teams trying to break back into the win column hook up at Dahlberg Arena today, as the Santa Clara Broncos duel with the Montana Grizzlies in non-conference play. The Broncos have dropped each of their last four outings following a season opening victory over CSU-East Bay. All four setbacks came as part of the NIT Season Tip-Off and each came by six points or less. Most recently, SCU was in action on Tuesday, falling narrowly to Arizona 69-66. As for Montana, it has suffered two straight losses following a winning streak of the same length. The team was last in play on Tuesday, when it dropped an 82-75 decision at Utah Valley State. The Grizzlies, who sit at 2-3 overall, now return back home, where they have gone 2-0 thus far. In terms of the all-time series, SCU holds a 5-2 edge over Montana and that includes a 60-49 victory in last season's meeting.

The Broncos simply could not slow down Arizona, allowing it to shoot a blazing 65.2 percent from the floor in a three-point loss on Tuesday. SCU had a good amount of success itself, hitting on 53.2 percent from the floor, but it just wasn't enough in the end. John Bryant guided the squad in defeat with 24 points and eight boards, while Kevin Foster had 21 points off the bench. On the season, Bryant is averaging a double-double with team highs of 19.4 ppg and 10.8 rpg and he is shooting 66.7 percent from the field. He is the only player averaging in double figures for SCU, which is producing 60.8 ppg as a team this season.

Much like SCU, Montana struggled on defense in its last outing, as Utah Valley drained 58.5 percent of its field goals in an 82-75 decision on Tuesday. The Grizzlies shot a solid 51.1 percent from the floor, but were outscored at the foul line, 27-21, in the setback. Anthony Johnson came off the bench and paced Montana with 19 points and three assists. Jack McGillis put forth 15 points, while Jordan Hasquet had 12 points and four boards. On the season, Hasquet tops the roster in both scoring (13.6 ppg) and rebounding (6.6 rpg) and he is also shooting 45.5 percent from long range. Ryan Staudacher chips in with 11.4 ppg for the Grizzlies, who are scoring 69.0 ppg this year.

Montana has the homecourt advantage in this one and with a sound three-point shooting effort it should prevail today.

Predicted Outcome

Montana 68, Santa Clara 66
