NCAA Game Summary - New Hampshire At Boston College

(Sports Network) - Freshman Shemari Spears scored a game- high 23 points in his college debut as No. 15 Boston College downed New Hampshire, 86-47, at the Silvio O. Conte Forum.

Spears finished 8-of-10 from the floor while Jared Dudley netted 19 points and hauled down 11 rebounds for the Eagles (1-0), who shot 58 percent from the floor.

Sean Marshall added 13 points in the easy win.

Tyrece Gibbs led his team with 11 points while Blagoj Janev, Mike Christensen and Dan McGeary donated eight points apiece for New Hampshire (0-1), which was just 19-of-57 (33 percent) from the floor.

The Wildcats stayed competitive early, but BC broke off an 18-3 run midway through the opening half to establish command. Spears had seven points over that stretch, which Dudley capped with a pair of free throws to make it 28-14.

Boston College continued to pull away as the opening half wore on, and took a 42-24 lead into the locker room.

Dudley paced the Eagles with 14 first-half points, and Spears added 10. New Hampshire, meanwhile, shot just 31 percent from the field to dig themselves the hole.

The rout continued in the second stanza, with the Eagles scoring the first six points to make it a 48-24 advantage.

New Hampshire did not threaten from there.

Game Notes:

Boston College leads the all-time series lead, 21-6...Boston College was playing without center Sean Williams and forward Akida McLain, who were suspended for violation of team rules.
