NCAA Game Summary - Pepperdine At New Mexico State

(Sports Network) - Jahmar Young scored a game-high 21 points, leading four players in double figures, as the New Mexico State Aggies posted a resounding 90-66 win over the Pepperdine Waves in non-conference play at the Pan American Center.

Young finished the night shooting 8-of-12 from the field for the Aggies (2-1), adding six rebounds and six assists. Jonathan Gibson tacked on 20 points and a team-best seven assists, followed by Troy Gillenwater and Wendell McKines with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Gillenwater also accounted for seven boards and a game-high six blocked shots as well.

The Waves (1-3) were paced by Taylor Darby who registered a double-double consisting of 12 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. Mike Hornbuckle and Jonathan Dupree came off the bench to record 11 and 10 points, respectively.

NMSU shot out to a quick 6-0 lead but quickly relinquished the advantage and, after shooting only 2-of-9 beyond the arc and 5-of-9 at the free-throw line in the first half, had to settle for a 37-36 lead at the break.

In the second half the Aggies exploded with 67.7 percent accuracy from the floor, cruising to the 24-point triumph.

New Mexico State finished the night hitting an impressive 56.3 percent from the field in a game that saw five ties and 14 lead changes.
