Houston, TX -- (Sports Network) - Jeremiah Dominguez scored 24 points to lead the Portland State Vikings to a 78-74 victory over the Rice Owls in a non-league battle at Tudor Fieldhouse.

Dominic Waters added 18 points for Portland State (1-0), while Jamie Jones contributed 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Cory Pflieger netted 17 points for Rice (0-1), while Aleks Perka tallied 15 points to go along with nine rebounds. Trey Stanton chipped in 14 points in the losing effort.

The Owls shot 57.1 percent from the floor in the first half, and went into the break with a 36-33 lead.

However, the Vikings took control in the second stanza, shooting a sizzling 62.5 percent from the field en route to the four-point win.

Portland State made 9-of-24 three-point attempts in the game, while Rice connected on 5-of-12 long range shots.
