Kingston, RI -- (Sports Network) - Jimmy Baron posted 17 points to lead the Rhode Island Rams to a thrilling, 76-74 victory over the Brown Bears in a non-league affair at the Ryan Center.

Keith Cothran added 16 points for Rhode Island (1-0), while Kahiem Seawright contributed 15 points to go along with eight rebounds in the victory.

Matt Mullery scored 22 points and collected seven rebounds for Brown (0-1), while Peter Sullivan helped with 15 points and nine boards. Adrian Williams chipped in 13 points in the losing effort.

The Bears held the Rams to a pathetic 31.6 percent shooting effort from the field in the first half and went into the break with a 33-29 lead.

However, Rhode Island was much more consistent in the second stanza, shooting 50.0 percent from the floor, while also connecting on 17-of-20 foul shots en route to the two-point win.

The Rams made 20-of-26 attempts from the charity stripe in the contest, and only committed three turnovers.
