NCAA Game Summary - Louisiana Tech At New Mexico State

(Sports Network) - Daniel Porter carried the ball 17 times for 130 yards and one score to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 35-31 win over the New Mexico State Aggies in Western Athletic Conference play at Aggie Memorial Stadium.

Ross Jenkins guided the Bulldogs (7-4, 5-2 WAC) offensive attack, completing 12-of-20 pass attempts for 132 yards and a touchdown.

NMSU (3-8, 1-6) was led by quarterback Chase Holbrook, who completed 45-of-60 pass attempts for 486 yards and four scores. Holbrook's favorite target was Chris Williams, who caught 10 passes for 189 yards and two scores. A.J Harris also hauled in 10 balls for 75 yards.

Louisiana Tech got on the board first, as Porter pushed his way in from one- yard out to give the Bulldogs a 7-0 lead late in the first quarter.

The Aggies responded in the opening minute of the second quarter, when Holbrook and Williams hooked up for an 80-yard score.

The Bulldogs answered on their next drive, when Phillip Livas ran it in from 14-yards out to make it a 14-7 contest.

NMSU got back on the board on its ensuing drive, when Kyle Hughes drilled a 22-yard field goal.

Louisiana Tech came right back with a 10-yard touchdown run from Patrick Jackson, to extend the Bulldog lead to 21-10.

The Bulldog defense got into the action late in the second quarter, when Alex Anderson scored on a blocked punt to make it a 28-10 contest.

The Aggies did not go quietly into the half, as Holbrook hooked up with Ronald Opetaia from 12 yards out to make it a 28-17 game at the break.

NMSU had the only score of the third quarter, when Holbrook found Marcus Anderson for an eight-yard touchdown strike.

The Aggies took the lead early in the fourth quarter, when Holbrook and Williams hooked up for their second touchdown of the contest, a 34-yards strike to give the Aggies a 31-28 lead.

Louisiana Tech bounced back late in the fourth quarter when Jenkins hooked up with Livas from 68 yards out to give the Bulldogs the 35-31 victory.

The Bulldogs controlled the line of scrimmage, limiting the Aggies to just 37 yards rushing on 24 attempts.
