Alcorn State QB Suffers Neck And Back Injuries

Saturday, December 3, 2005

Alcorn State quarterback Tony Hobson suffered neck and back injuries during Saturday's 46-19 loss to 11th-ranked Grambling.

Hobson was taken to a Jackson area hospital Saturday night and was later released. He was hurt after being tackled with 11:58 to play in the first quarter. He was injured when a shotgun snap sailed over his head. Hobson retrieved the ball near his own goal line and dove to the one to avoid a safety, but remained down after the play.

Hobson was placed on a backboard and a stretcher, and he was taken off the field by ambulance. The game was delayed for about 10 minutes.
