NCAA Game Summary - Wisconsin At Indiana

(Sports Network) - P.J. Hill carried the ball 19 times for 126 yards and three scores, leading the Wisconsin Badgers to a 55-20 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers in a Big Ten Conference Showdown at Memorial Stadium.

Wisconsin (5-5, 2-5 Big Ten) dominated the Hoosiers on the ground, as David Gilreath carried the ball eight times for 168 yards and two scores, while John Clay chipped in with 19 carries for 112 yards and a TD. Quarterback Dustin Sherer orchestrated the offensive attack, completing 10-of-19 pass attempts for 143 yards.

Indiana (3-7, 1-5) was led by quarterback Ben Chapelle, who completed 11-of-20 passes for 126 yards and a score. Chapelle also carried the ball six times for 24 yards and a TD.

The Badgers took control in the opening minutes of the contest, as Hill ran it in from three yards out to make it a 7-0 game.

Minutes later, Indiana answered with a 42-yard field goal by Austin Starr.

Wisconsin extended the lead on its next drive, as Hill powered his way in from the one-yard line to make it 14-3.

The Hoosiers responded immediately, as Chapelle hooked up with Andrew Means for a 43-yard scoring strike.

IU closed out the first-quarter scoring with a 33-yard field goal from Starr to make it a 14-13 game.

Wisconsin again extended its lead midway through the second quarter, on an eight-yard touchdown run by Gilreath.

IU got back on the board minutes later, on a one-yard run by Chapelle.

The Badgers made use of their final drive of the half, as Philip Welch drilled a 19-yard field goal to give Wisconsin a 24-20 lead at the break.

Wisconsin dominated the second half, opening the scoring with a 90-yard touchdown burst by Gilreath. The Badgers got back on the board midway through the third quarter with a 39-yard field goal by Welch.

John Clay also got in on the action, plowing his way into the end zone from one yard out to give the Badgers a 41-20 lead after three quarters.

The Badgers put the game out of reach early in the fourth quarter, with a 19- yard touchdown run by Hill. Scott Tolzien put the finishing touches on the win, scoring from two yards out to seal the 55-20 Wisconsin victory.

Wisconsin did whatever it wanted against the overmatched IU defense, racking up 601 yards of total offense, with 441 yards coming on the ground.
