NCAA Game Summary - Kentucky At Mississippi State

Saturday, November 1, 2008

(Sports Network) - Randall Cobb passed for one touchdown and ran for another as he led the Kentucky Wildcats to a 14-13 win against Mississippi State in SEC action at Davis Wade Stadium.

Cobb carried the ball 12 times for 31 yards for the Wildcats (6-3, 2-3 SEC) as they won for the second time in the last three games and became bowl eligible with their sixth victory of the campaign. In terms of passing, Cobb combined with Mike Hartline to convert 16-of-30 for 146 yards.

The Bulldogs (3-6, 1-4) were paced by Tyson Lee who converted 26-of-42 passing for 261 yards and a pair of scores, but he was intercepted once and sacked four times in the second loss in the last three games for the program.

The only scoring of the first half came courtesy of a 29-yard scoring strike from Lee to Brandon McRae, leaving the Bulldogs with a 7-0 edge at the break.

In the third frame Kentucky put up a pair of touchdowns on a five-yard run by Cobb and a three-yard pass to Maurice Grinter, capping a 12-play, 82-yard drive.

Moments into the fourth quarter Lee found Arnil Stallworth with a 10-yard TD pass for the Bulldogs, but a blocked PAT left the home team with a 14-13 deficit and Mississippi State never recovered.

Kentucky won the contest despite converting a mere 3-of-14 on third down and producing 274 yards of offense.
