NCAA Game Summary - Utah State At Louisiana Tech

Ruston, LA -- (Sports Network) - Ross Jenkins completed 12-of-17 for 145 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs to a 45-38 victory over the Utah State Aggies in a Western Athletic Conference bout at Joe Aillet Stadium. Daniel Porter ran for 114 yards and a score in the Louisiana Tech (6-4, 4-2 WAC) victory, while Patrick Johnson added 65 yards and a touchdown on the ground for the Bulldogs. Robert Turbin gained 99 yards on 17 carries and scored three touchdowns to lead Utah State (2-9, 2-5) in the losing effort, and Diondre Borel added a 56- yard, two score effort on the ground as well. But the Aggies signal-caller threw three costly interceptions in the loss, two of which were returned for touchdowns. Louisiana Tech struck first, taking an early 7-0 lead on a 40-yard interception return by Matt Broha. Utah State responded midway through the period following a one-yard plunge by Turbin. The Aggies added a 19-yard Peter Caldwell field goal late in the frame to take a 10-7 lead. The Bulldogs took a 14-10 lead early in the second quarter with a 30-yard strike from Jenkins to Jackson. The Bulldogs found the end zone again just minutes later, as Dominique Faust returned an interception 60 yards for a score. Utah State answered back midway through the frame with a 48-yard run from Turbin. The Bulldogs took a 28-17 lead into the half following an 11-yard toss from Jenkins to Dennis Morris. Jackson extended the Louisiana Tech advantage midway through the third period with a one-yard plunge. An 11-yard Borel run minutes later pulled Utah State to within 35-24. The Aggies added a two-yard run from Turbin late in the period but failed to convert a two-point conversion attempt. Borel gave the Aggies a 38-35 lead early in the final period of play following a 13-yard scamper and a successful two-point conversion run. But Louisiana Tech reclaimed its lead just minutes later, as Porter found the end zone after a 22-yard run. The Bulldogs added a 22-yard Brad Oestriecher field goal with 2:06 left to play to seal the 45-38 victory.
