NCAA Game Summary - Nevada At Idaho

(Sports Network) - Vai Taua scored three touchdowns to help lead the Nevada Wolf Pack to a 49-14 win over the Idaho Vandals in Western Athletic Conference action at the Kibbie Dome.

Taua carried the ball 21 times for the Pack (3-2, 1-0 WAC) and gained a game- high 90 yards on the ground in the process. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick converted 19-of-24 passing for 243 yards and another two scores in the road victory as well.

The Vandals (1-5, 0-2) were led by Nathan Enderle who hit on 18-of-36 passing for 226 yards and two touchdowns. Receiver Eddie Williams reeled in a game- high 10 balls for 142 yards and both touchdowns in the setback.

Taua opened the scoring with a pair of rushing touchdowns, the first coming on a three-yard effort in the first quarter and the second a one-yard effort a minute into the second frame.

Nevada moved the lead to 21-0 when Kaepernick scored on an 18-yard run later in the first half, which is where the score stood at the break.

In the third it was Kaepernick again, this time with a 48-yard TD pass to Marko Mitchell to extend the lead to 28-0 with 7:50 remaining in the period. Mitchell finished the day with a team-best six catches for 121 yards.

The Vandals finally made it into the end zone when Enderle and Williams combined on a 10-yard scoring play less than two minutes later.

Ahead by three touchdowns heading into the fourth quarter, Nevada moved further beyond reach with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Kaepernick to Chris Wellington. Barely five minutes later Taua scored on a three-yard run to make the score 42-7.

With just under six minutes remaining in regulation Williams made his way into the end zone for the second time, courtesy of a 12-yard pass from Enderle.

With s short field on the ensuing possession, the Pack pushed the lead back to 35 points when Courtney Randall scored on a one-yard run to finish off the game's scoring.

Although they ran four fewer plays than Idaho, the Wolf Pack ended up with 507 yards of total offense, compared to just 316 for the Vandals. The home team struggled to move the ball on the ground with a paltry 24 yards on 28 attempts.
