The Tennessee State Energy and Efficiency Appliance Rebate Program (SEEARP) has targeted a start date of Earth Day, April 22.Only qualifying Energy Star heating and cooling units purchased after the program launch will be eligible and rebates will not be retroactive. More details on how consumers can take advantage of the rebates will be available in the coming months.The following types of appliances will be eligible for the program:
Air source heat pumps - $250
Central air conditioners - $250
Room air conditioners - $40
The program is one of 56 State Energy-Efficient Appliance Rebate Programs, popularly known as Cash for Appliances, that are being set up in the United States and six U.S. territories with the help of federal stimulus money.The state of Tennessee received $5.9 million of the nearly $300 million available nationwide from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).For more information on the program, visit the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development Web site or call the State of Tennessee Energy Policy Office at 800-342-1340 or 615-741-2994.
