Celebs Defend Controversial Cyrus Photo

Several celebrities are coming out in support of teen star Miley Cyrus following the release of a controversial photo featured in an upcoming issue of Vanity Fair.

Cyrus apologized in a statement Monday for an Annie Leibovitz photo that features the 15-year-old singer and "Hannah Montana" star topless with a blanket wrapped around her.

Actress Sally Field told "Extra" that she loves Cyrus and people need to move on.

"I think, 'Let it go for God's sake'... it's a beautiful picture," Field told the show.

"The Hills" reality television show stars Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag agreed. Montag said that Cyrus is "just having fun," while Conrad said that the controversy is "a bit silly."

"I didn't find it inappropriate -- it is a lot of pressure on her since she is a role model, but I think she's doing a good job," Conrad told "Extra."

In a statement through her publicist, Cyrus said, "I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be 'artistic' and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed."

Leibovitz said that she was sorry that people "misinterpreted" the photos.

Disney, which produces Cyrus' "Hannah Montana" show, said in a statement, however, that "a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines."

The Vanity Fair Web site is back up and running after crashing when it took 4 million hits on the day the Miley Cyrus photos were posted.

The site features the photos, behind-the-scenes shots and a video.

Vanity Fair said the video shows that "the nefarious photo shoot that has parents threatening to host Hannah Montana bonfire parties was actually a relaxed family event."

The site also has the entire interview with Cyrus, who reveals that her favorite television show is "Sex and the City."

Cyrus said that her "Hannah Montana" series is patterned in part after "Sex and the City," though "obviously not the scenarios."
