The Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility in Reno/Tahoe is pleased to announce the 4th Annual Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby benefitting the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

Elite equestrians and their world-class horses will once again arrive in the Washoe Valley to compete towards earning over $27,000 dollars in prize money. Hundreds of spectators should expect to be entertained as each equestrian navigates a course of jumps that honor the tradition of fox hunting. In addition to the main equestrian event, attendees will be treated to delectable food, champagne, and exquisite shopping. Located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountain range, the Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility is the premier venue for this equestrian experience. In 2010, The MacLean family set forth to create a five-star equestrian event for not only the riders but for the local northern Nevada community to enjoy.  The MacLean’s made it their goal that this event would give back to the area and would continue for years to come. The MacLean family’s efforts will be rewarded in 2013 as they host the fourth year of the Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby weekend in collaboration with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. On August 2, 2013, the $2,500 National Hunter Derby will occur featuring many local up and coming junior and amateur equestrians. On August 3, 2013, the $25,000 International Hunter Derby will commence showcasing many of the top hunter riders in the world. The afternoon events will include a champagne brunch, shopping, a course walk, calcutta, calling of the hounds, the derby, and awards ceremony. This Reno area event will attract people from all over the Nevada-California area.
