Experts Offer Tips To Keep Your Home Warm

One way to be more energy efficient, which means saving money and the environment all at the same time, is keeping your indoors warm and keeping the cold air outside home.

One way to do that is by weather stripping your house.

The inexpensive strip of foam can be placed around the edges of your windows and doors making a complete seal that will prevent a cold draft from coming in.

"Also, we carry some seals for your electrical covers. A lot of electrical covers have a little bit of draft coming in around them. All you?re doing is pulling the cover off, and you don't have to touch the electrical wires,? said head cashier at Home Depot Robert Venegas Jr.

Besides buying the precut electrical covers, you can also get door seals to help trap heat from escaping in between that gap between the floor and the door. You can get a raised cover that you place on the floor, but it doesn't stop all the heat from escaping.

"We also have what is called a door sweep. You put that to the bottom of the door and it actually sweeps the air, prevents it from coming in. Basically, it?s like a second layer preventing that air from coming in,? said Venegas.

Of course, you could put a towel at the bottom of the door, but it will not keep the warm air in and the cold air out plus you'll have to pick it up every time you open the door.

The experts at Home Depot said these few weather stripping ideas can end up saving you quite a bit of money on your electrical bills.
