“Join us for a special treat to kick off Hot August Nights too! On Tuesday, August 6, you can keep cool with your new Hot August Pet by enjoying shaved ice and other beverages by Java Ship Coffee,” said J’Neal Hachquet, Events Manager for Nevada Humane Society. “Stop by the shelter before you head out to check out the cars, and maybe even leave with a new friend.”

The shelter is located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno and is open for pet adoptions Sunday through Friday from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm and on Saturday from 10:00 am until 6:30 pm. For more information, call 775-856-2000 or visit
