Cordero To Return To Brewers In 2007

Milwaukee, WI -- (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers exercised their 2007 option on pitcher Francisco Cordero Friday.The 31-year-old righthander was acquired on July 28 in a six-player deal with the Texas Rangers. He was 3-1 with a 1.69 earned run average and notched 16 saves in 18 opportunities for the Brewers. "Francisco did a great job for us and pitched like the All-Star closer he was in 2004," Brewers president/general manager Doug Melvin said. "The club had a lot of confidence in him and it is nice knowing that we have someone of his ability for the closer role next year." Cordero's 16 consecutive saves with Milwaukee rank fifth on the franchise's all-time list.
