Orioles To Bring Back Trembley In 2009

POSTED: 7:17 pm PDT September 5, 2008

(Sports Network) - Dave Trembley will manage the Orioles for at least one more season, and maybe more.

The Baltimore Orioles have exercised their option on Trembley for the 2009 season and added a club option for 2010, the team announced Friday.

Trembley was initially promoted from his position as bullpen coach to manager in June 2007, replacing the dismissed Sam Perlozzo. The club removed the interim tag on August 22, and the Orioles have gone 103-130 under Trembley.

The Orioles are 63-77, in last place in the AL East, 22 1/2 games behind the first-place Tampa Bay Rays. Baltimore finished in fourth place last season with a 69-93 record.

A longtime minor league coach with 24 years in pro baseball under his belt, Trembley came to Baltimore as a bullpen coach in 2007.
