Report: Maggette Heading To Golden State

Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - Forward Corey Maggette is leaving the Los Angeles Clippers for a lucrative deal with the Golden State Warriors, according to a published report.The Los Angeles Times is reporting that the Warriors are set to give Maggette a five-year deal worth $50 million. The 28-year-old Maggette opted out of the final year of his contract on July 1. The longest tenured Clipper averaged 22.1 points per game last season and was due $7 million for the final year of his deal. Also on July 1, the Clippers reportedly reached a verbal agreement with point guard Baron Davis on a deal in the range of five years and $65 million. Davis' decision to come to Los Angeles is not expected to be changed due to the latest news about Maggette. The Clippers also reportedly lost center Elton Brand to free agency, as he's expected to sign with Philadelphia. The deals can't be formally announced until Wednesday when the league's free agent signing period begins.
