Los Angeles, CA -- (Sports Network) - Forward Corey Maggette signed with the Golden State Warriors, the club announced Thursday.Terms of the deal were not released, though the Los Angeles Times reported earlier this week that the deal was for five years and worth $50 million. The 28-year-old Maggette opted out of the final year of his contract on July 1. The longest-tenured Los Angeles Clipper averaged 22.1 points per game last season and was due $7 million for the final year of his deal. "We are really excited to add a player of Corey's ability to our team," said Warriors executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin. "He's been one of the most productive players in our league for the last several years and provides us with additional versatility and veteran leadership." Maggette was the second major player the Los Angeles Clippers lost to free agency in as many days. On Wednesday, power forward Elton Brand was introduced as a member of the Philadelphia 76ers after inking a five-year contract worth a reported $82 million. However, Maggette will not play alongside point guard Baron Davis, who on Thursday signed a five-year deal with the Clippers. In nine NBA seasons, Maggette has career averages of 16.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. The Duke product was selected 13th overall by Seattle in the 1999 NBA Draft, and dealt the same day to Orlando. Following one season with the Magic, Maggette has spent the past eight seasons with the Clippers.
