Warriors Match Clippers Offer To Azubuike

POSTED: 4:04 pm PDT July 24, 2008

(Sports Network) - The Golden State Warriors matched the contract offer the Los Angeles Clippers offered restricted free agent guard Kelenna Azubuike Thursday. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Warriors had seven days to match the terms the Clippers offered Azubuike on July 18.

The 24-year-old came to the Warriors in 2007 after spending time with the NBA Development League and has appeared in 122 games over the past two seasons, averaging 8.1 points and 3.4 rebounds per game.

"We are pleased to have Kelenna back in the fold," said Warriors executive vice president of basketball operations Chris Mullin. "He's a young and talented player who has continued to improve during his two seasons with our team. His versatility, athleticism and ability to shoot the three-pointer certainly fit our style of play."

In 84 games -- 17 starts -- last year, the Kentucky product logged 8.5 points and 4.0 rebounds an outing.
