SAN JOSE -- San Jose real estate appraiser Jason Glover was a free man Friday nearly three days after he was falsely arrested on the way to work in a case of coast-to-coast mistaken identity by the U.S. Marshal's Service.A spokesman at the Santa Clara County Jail confirmed that the 31-year-old was released from the facility at 11 p.m. Thursday. But his release did not erase three frightening days spent behind bars."I'm just glad it's over," his mother -- Mary Millender -- told KTVU. "He's such a good kid, such a good kid. He's never been in trouble ever. It's not right. It's just not right." Glover, was taken into custody on Tuesday while on his way to work. U.S. Marshals Service said he had been arrested for a lengthy indictment -- 39 criminal counts, including sexual assault and false imprisonment charges --- out of Prince George's County, Md. Malik Miles, Glover's roommate, described the arrest for KTVU."They said are you Jason Glover?," Miles said. "He said -- 'Yes, I'm Jason Glover. They said (to me), is he Jason Glover? I said -- 'Yes, he's Jason Glover.' They said -- 'We're taking him in. He's a felony rapist in Maryland.'" I said this is impossible; he's never been to Maryland. We don't go out there or anything."The next day as Glover sat stunned in a jail cell, his arrest was newspaper material. His name, address and the fact that he was wanted for the charges were all there in black and white.Deputy Chris Johansson of the U.S. Marshals Service said his agency had every indication they had the right man."Everything we received from the task force back East indicated it was the right guy and the right address," he said. Both family and friends knew a mistake -- a very bad mistake -- had been made."I knew in my heart for a fact that my buddy was not guilty of the things they're accusing him of, said Laron Hall who along with Glover's Phi Beta Sigma fraternity brothers from Santa Clara University rallied to their friends support. "I tried to call (Rev.) Al Sharpton. I tried to call (Rev.) Jesse Jackson. I called God -- I asked in prayer for his help."On Thursday, the federal and local authorities became aware of the mistake when they compared photographs. Apparently there was another Jason Glover on the East Coast with the same birthday. "I just can't believe they would take somebody and put them in jail and really not have enough evidence to keep him," Glover's mother said. While the family said it was relieved that Glover had been released, they did not rule out filing a wrongful arrest lawsuit.
