SAN JOSE, Calif. -- On Friday, San Jose Police identified two men who allegedly held up a liquor store at gunpoint Tuesday and led law enforcement on a chase from San Jose to East Palo Alto and announced that the men are suspected of being involved in up to 25 robberies throughout the Bay Area. Jaray Washington, 26, and Warren Jordan, 21, are both known to have connections with a criminal street gang in East Palo Alto, according to San Jose police Officer Enrique Garcia. The two are suspected of robbing around 20 to 25 liquor and convenience stores throughout the Bay Area, including 16 in San Jose. In many cases the men assault store clerks and customers as they rob the stores, Garcia said. He described both of them as "very dangerous." Both are described as black men with black hair and brown eyes, according to Garcia. Jordan is around 5 feet 8 inches and 145 pounds while Washington is around 5 feet 10 inches. Their most recent alleged robbery took place Tuesday at Clyde's Liquor Store at 3963 Snell Ave. in San Jose, Garcia said. The two men reportedly robbed the store around 3:15 p.m. and fled before officers arrived. A few minutes later a patrol officer spotted Washington and Jordan's Dodge minivan in the area of U.S. Highway 101 and Montague Expressway, Garcia said. The suspects got onto northbound Highway 101 and drove toward East Palo Alto with officers following. The car stopped briefly just south of Moffett Field and a 20-year-old woman suspected of driving the car got out of the van while Washington and Jordan continued to East Palo Alto, Garcia said. Adriana Valencia has been charged with one count of attempted robbery and two counts of second-degree robbery, Garcia said. After exiting the highway in Palo Alto, the two men then abandoned the vehicle in the area of Donohoe Street and University Avenue. They escaped on foot and the manhunt for them was called off around 10 p.m. that evening. A video of Washington and Jordan robbing a liquor store is available from the San Jose Police Department, according to Garcia. Anyone with information about the two men is asked to contact the San Jose police robbery unit at (408) 277-4166.
