NAPA, Calif. -- The California Highway Patrol has identified Veronica Zimmermann of Napa as the 17-year-old girl killed in a crash outside city limits Sunday night. Zimmermann was one of four teens riding in a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado that crashed around 8:50 p.m. on First Avenue south of Hagen Road. The driver, a 17-year-old boy from Napa whose name has not been released, lost control of the vehicle as he negotiated curves in the road, CHP Officer Jaret Paulson said. The vehicle rolled and struck a power pole, landing on its roof, Paulson said. The driver, along with passenger Britney Moore, 17, and her sister Holly Moore, 15, sustained minor injuries and was treated at Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, Paulson said. Zimmermann was riding in the front passenger seat. She was pronounced dead at the scene, Paulson said. All four teens were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, the CHP reported. The driver's name is being withheld pending further investigation.
