Police Searching For Four Newark Carjackers

NEWARK, Calif. -- Newark police are trying to identify four people who allegedly carjacked and robbed two victims Tuesday evening.The robbery was reported at about 7:25 p.m. in the 6300 block of Montcalm Avenue when the four men, one of whom was armed with a handgun, confronted three victims, police said.The suspects demanded and received various belongings from two of the victims, while the third victim, a 17-year-old boy, escaped by running away, police said.The suspects fled in two vehicles, including one that belonged to one of the victims, police said.The first two victims, a 17-year-old boy and 19-year-old man, were assaulted and injured during the robbery, police said. Their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.Anyone with information on the incident is encouraged to contact Detective Chomnan Loth at (510) 477-1706.
