Man's Body Found Behind Santa Clara Flower Shop

The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office Friday is investigating the suspicious death of a man found dead behind a flower shop Friday morning. A sheriff's deputy parked near the intersection of Race and San Carlos streets was stopped by a citizen around 7 a.m., according to the sheriff's office. The citizen told the deputy he found a dead man behind a flower shop and showed the deputy a parking lot in the 200 block of Race Street. The man, who appeared to be a transient, was pronounced dead at the scene, the sheriff's office reported. His cause of death has not been released, but the sheriff's office is investigating the death as suspicious. The man's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
