MARIN CO., Calif. -- Two hikers were rescued from the side of a cliff between Muir and Stinson beaches in Marin County Monday, according to the Marin County Fire Department. Fire officials were notified of two male hikers who were stuck on the side of a cliff off state Highway 1, about two miles north of the Muir Beach Overlook, at about 4:50 p.m., Marin County fire engineer Don Keylon said. A third hiker had managed to climb to the top of the cliff and notified authorities, according to Keylon. Fire crews from the Muir Beach, Stinson Beach and Southern Marin fire departments also responded to the incident and the Sonoma County Sheriff's Department sent a helicopter. Keylon said rescue crewmembers on the helicopter managed to bring the stranded hikers to safety by about 6 p.m. and there was no report of injuries.
