SAN JOSE, Calif. -- A 17-year-old girl has been sentenced in Santa Clara County Superior Court to 18 years in state prison for the May 2008 stabbing of another student at Oak Grove High School, the district attorney's office announced Friday. Claudia Montalbo, 17, attacked a girl who was walking through the school parking lot to meet her father on May 20, 2008. Prosecutors said Montalbo attacked the victim from behind and stabbed her multiple times in the upper back and head. The victim was hospitalized for her injuries, which included a collapsed lung. Prosecutors said the attack was recorded on school surveillance cameras. Montalbo, who was charged as an adult, was sentenced to seven years for attempted murder, one year for a previous robbery of another high school student and 10 years for a criminal street gang enhancement. She was also ordered to pay more than $47,000 in restitution fees to the victim and court.
