Teen Killed, Two Others Injured In Gilroy Crash

GILROY -- An 18-year-old man died and two other teens were seriously injured when their car collided with a big-rig in unincorporated Santa Clara County Thursday morning, a the California Highway Patrol officer said. The crash was reported shortly before 11 a.m. on state Highway 152 east of state Highway 156 near Gilroy, CHP Officer Erica Elias said. The three teens were in a Dodge Charger that collided with a big-rig making a U-turn, Elias said. An 18-year-old passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. A 19-year-old woman driving the car suffered major injuries, as did another 18-year-old man riding in the car, Elias said. The two teens were flown to separate hospitals in the San Jose area for treatment. The 57-year-old man driving the big-rig was not injured, Elias said. The crash remains under investigation.
