Aces Rally Late for 4-3 Win

John Hester ripped two doubles and Chad Tracy hit a go-ahead RBI triple in the eighth to lift the Reno Aces to 4-3 win over the Tacoma Rainiers Sunday at Aces Ballpark. The Aces used a balanced offensive attack and strong pitching to defeat the Rainiers for the second-straight night. Reno jumped out to an early 3-0 behind a Rusty Ryal home run and RBI base hits by Trent Oeltjen and Ed Rogers. After the Rainiers clawed back to tie the game at 3-3, Major League rehabber Chad Tracy knocked in the eventual game-winning run with an eighth-inning triple to the right-center field wall.

Reno starter Tony Barnette got a hard-luck no-decision, tossing 6.1 innings and scattering eight hits and three runs. Doug Slaten (2-1) earned the victory in relief by throwing 1.2 scoreless innings and striking out two. Bobby Korecky slammed the door for his second save in as many nights and 12th overall.

Denny Stark was tagged with the loss for Tacoma after giving up one run in two innings of relief.

Tracy and Hester each picked up two hits on the night in an eight-hit effort for the Aces.

Reno looks for a series victory Monday night, as it sends RHP Seth Etherton (5-5, 4.99 ERA) to the mound against Tacoma LHP Chris Seddon (4-5, 4.71). First pitch is set for 7:05 pm.
