Police wre investigating an early thursday morning shooting that left two people wounded, one of them critically, police said.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting and possible shooting victims in the 300 block of North Capitol Avenue at around 12:35 a.m., San Jose police Officer Jermaine Thomas said.

When police first arrived at the scene, they were unable to locate any victims.

About 15 to 20 minutes later, two people suffering gunshot wounds reportedly walked into two different local hospitals. Further investigation led police to conclude that both victims had been injured in the incident reported earlier on North Capitol Avenue, Thomas said.

Information on possible suspects was not immediately available, Thomas said.
