SANTA ROSA, Calif. -- A 31-year-old man was arrested after allegedly raping a 54-year-old developmentally disabled woman in Santa Rosa's Roseland neighborhood early Thursday morning, a police sergeant said. Socorro Reyes Zamudio was arrested hours after a 911 call was received at about 2:45 a.m. from a resident saying that her daughter had just been sexually assaulted by an acquaintance in their home, Santa Rosa police Sgt. John Snetsinger said. The caller said that Zamudio was a family friend who had previously lived with them at another residence and had been staying with them again for the past week. Zamudio fled before police arrived, but was located and arrested in the same neighborhood at about 9 a.m. today, Snetsinger said. The victim is developmentally disabled and her mother took care of her in the home, according to police. Police are still investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call the Police Department's domestic violence/sexual assault investigations team at (707) 543-3595.
