LOS GATOS -- An injured motorcyclist -- who spent five days in a coma -- said Thursday that one of his accused assailants threaten to "lynch" him prior to stringing a rope across a roadway leading to his crash.Robert Barnes told KTVU that suspect Edward Anderson told that "we'll lynch" you just hours before he was injured by roadside rope cloths-line ambush last Saturday."I never had any problem with them other than little road dispute things," Barnes said of his neighbors charged in the case. "I've lived up here for six years. It’s a private road (where the attack took place), but dual sports and everyone rides through here."Barnes said his dirt bike was stolen the day he was released from the hospital. The attack and the theft have Barnes shaken. "I'm a little concerned about my safety," he said. "If they can do something like that what else can they do?"The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office announced Wednesday the arrest of three middle-aged Los Gatos residents for allegedly putting Barnes in a coma by clothes-lining him with a rope strung across the roadway. Donald Bryant, 62, Donna Olsen, 46, and Anderson, 48, were arrested on Tuesday in connection with the May 6 incident that put the motorcyclist in a coma for five days.Barnes also received more than 500 stitches, had his jaw rebuilt, his lip surgically reattached and had several titanium plates inserted in his face. The three suspects all live in the rural Loma Chiquita Road area where the alleged assault took place and authorities believe they may have gotten sick of motorcyclists driving through their neighborhood and decided to take matters into their own hands. "There's been some complaints about dirt being kicked up," by dirt bike riders in the area, sheriff's office spokesman Deputy Serg Palanov said. The suspects' actions could have had deadly consequences, according to Palanov. "A few inches lower and it would have killed (the motorcyclist)," Palanov said. The three suspects are currently being held without bail in Santa Clara County Jail. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Detective Dean Baker at (408) 808-4500.
