What you need

  • 1/2 pound ground coffee (dark roast is best)
  • 1 gallon cold water

Pour the coffee into a container large enough to hold a gallon of water. Add the cold water and stir to make sure the coffee grounds are submerged. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 8-12 hours. Strain using layered paper towels, making sure to remove all of the grounds from the liquid. Store in jars, bottles or a covered container in the fridge for up to three weeks.

Honey Simple Syrup

  • 4 cups hot water
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups honey (depending on how sweet you like it)

Mix the honey and hot water together with a whisk. Store in jars, bottles or a covered container in the fridge for up to three weeks.

Coffee Ice Cubes

After straining and bottling your Cold Brewed Coffee, fill ice cube trays with coffee and freeze overnight. Store in plastic bag in the freezer. Use to make iced coffee and iced blended coffee drinks.

Strawberry Syrup

  • 1 pint strawberries, washed, hulled and sliced
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Simmer all of the ingredients in a non-reactive pot (not aluminum) for about 10 minutes, until bubbly and syrupy. Remove from heat, and pass through a metal strainer, using a wooden spoon to stir the syrup and smash the fruit against the sieve. Discard the solids in the strainer and store the syrup in jars, bottles or a covered container for up to three weeks.
