Heavenly receives new snow, opens additinal terrain

Resort Receives 42 Inches of Natural Snow During Storm Cycle

LAKE TAHOE --  With 42 inches of snow since Thursday, Heavenly Mountain Resort opened all terrain, including tree skiing, between Milky Way Bowl and Comet Trail on Tuesday, totaling 331 open acres. The resort plans to expand to the California side of the mountain later this week and open additional terrain.

“We received over three feet of snow during this last storm, and our mountain operations staff has worked hard to open additional terrain,” said Pete Sonntag, Heavenly’s general manager. “We will continue to work this week to fine-tune the snow on the California side in preparation of opening up some terrain over there.”

Heavenly is currently operating the Gondola, Tamarack Express, Dipper Express, Comet Express and three beginner magic carpets at Adventure Peak. Tamarack Lodge and East Peak Lodge are also open.

“Our snow conditions right now are mid-winter quality and only look to improve as we move through the month,” said Sonntag. “People booking their holiday vacations at Heavenly can rest assured that we will be opening even more terrain and that they will have a terrific experience out on the mountain.”

This weekend, Heavenly will also feature on-mountain concerts outside Tamarack Lodge as part of Winter Ignite. Unbuckle at Tamarack is running daily from 3:30-5:30 p.m. with half-price drinks, food specials, a club-like DJ and exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays, the Heavenly Angels.
