Adopt a mini panther at Nevada Humane Society

Black cats are often over looked by potential adopters, though they are usually intelligent, charming, and good-natured companions.

Nevada Humane Society (NHS) has dubbed black cats Mini Panthers because of their elegant good looks and resemblance to their majestic wild distant cousins. You can adopt your own Mini Panther for just $5 from March 1 through March 11. Cozy Cattery has generously donated a small gift bag for each kitty that is adopted, and they will be available while supplies last.

All cats are spayed and neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before being adopted. These services would normally cost over $200.

“Black cats are full of personality and are charming, expressive, and a lot of fun,” explained Vonice Reed, Cat Care Manager at Nevada Humane Society. “They seem to be overlooked in shelters because they aren’t as colorful as calicos or tabby cats. That’s a shame because they make such wonderful pets.”

Why adopt a Mini Panther?

  • On average, they stay in a shelter longer than any other colored cat.
  • Their fur blends in with your dark clothes.
  • They look good with any accent color in your home.
  • They are the most elegant and sophisticated color: Black is always in style.
  • They will love you unconditionally.

If you would like to meet a Mini Panther and see if one might make a good companion for you and your family, come to Nevada Humane Society located at 2825 Longley Lane in Reno. The shelter is open daily for adoptions from 11:00 am until 6:30 pm and an hour earlier on Saturday at 10:00 am. For more information, call 775-856-2000 or visit www.nevadahumanesociety.org.
