MINDEN -- Sheriffs were able to deflate a potentially dangerous situation yesterday afternoon when a woman barricaded herself in an alleged suicide attempt.

Yesterday afternoon at around 1, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a despondent female in the area of Squires Drive in the Johnson Lane subdivision of Minden, NV. The female armed herself with a firearm, threatened to commit suicide and barricaded herself in the garage.

Sheriff’s Office Personnel and a Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the area, in hopes of a peacefully resolution to this situation. Access to the area was blocked.

At around 6:02 pm, the incident ended with the female surrendering to the authorities. The woman was taken into custody for evaluation.

No one was injured in the incident.
