Reno, NV- Yesterday, Donald McLean Buckner, a 60 year old target of the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program received a sentence of 8-20 years in the Nevada State Prison by the Honorable Judge Brent Adams.

Buckner was adjudicated as a Habitual Criminal by the Judge after being presented with 8 prior certified felony convictions by Assistant District Attorney Matt Lee.  Buckner's criminal history spans 42 years with 12 prior felony convictions. 

Buckner had pleaded guilty earlier in the year on two separate cases.  The first case, he pleads guilty to 3 counts of attempted burglary and one count of burglary.  After being adjudicated as a Habitual Criminal he received a sentence of 8-20 years in the Nevada State Prison.  On the second case, he pleads guilty to one count of attempted burglary and received a sentence of 2-5 years in the Nevada State Prison to run consecutively to the other sentence. 

The burglaries happened during the September 2011 Reno Air Races.  Detectives had been conducting surveillance on Buckner and watched him enter several recreational vehicles in the parking lot including one which was occupied by a young adult female.  He was immediately taken into custody following the encounter with the female.  Buckner had been victimizing the citizens in the Reno/Tahoe area the past several decades by burglarizing vehicles at University of Nevada, Reno Football games and at the local ski resorts. 

The Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program is a regional unit comprised of Detectives from the Reno and Sparks Police Departments.
