SUN VALLEY -- An alert homeowner is the reason why a man was arrested for allegedly attempting to burglarize a home and damaging public property.
The Washoe County Sheriff's Office responded to the area of Yukon Drive and Maricopa Drive in the Sun Valley area this morning at around 6:50 on a report of a burglary in progress.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a downed street sign, a white Oldsmobile sedan that apparently had been driven through a wooden fence and into a residence on Miwok Court. The suspected driver of the vehicle entered a residence on Miwok Court. An alert homeowner lawfully detained the intruder inside the homeowner's residence.
Deputies arrested the intruder, identified as 23-year-old Sun Valley resident Michael Reynolds. Reynolds was booked into the Washoe County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility without incident. He was charged with Burglary, Failing to Stay at an Accident with Property Damage, Destroying Property of Another over $5,000.
Reynolds bail has been set at $25,740.
