Local law enforcement keep Hot August Nights crime to a minimum

RENO -- Thanks to the partnership between the Reno Police Department and Washoe County Sheriff's Office, Hot August Nights 2012 was successful in keeping people safe.

Sunday, August 12 concludes Hot August Nights 2012.  The City of Reno Special Events team and Reno Police Department coordinated staffing and scheduling for Hot August Nights 2012. This is the second year the City allowed a continuous beer garden on Virginia Street from First to Sixth Streets during the special event. The beer garden allowed participants to walk freely among the static displays and vendors with their drinks, providing for a better experience downtown.

The Reno Police Department's partnership with the Nevada Department of Public Safety allowed for Parole and Probation enforcement at the event. Effective partnerships were also formed among staff from the City of Reno, Hot August Nights and the major downtown properties, working together to provide a safe, secure, and enjoyable environment for everyone that visited Reno for Hot August Nights. The partnerships formed with the security teams for the downtown properties allowed the Reno Police Department to dedicate their staff time to law enforcement. Issues requiring Police attention were successfully addressed.  The below list represents enforcement action taken from Wednesday, August 8 to Sunday, August 12 specific to Hot August Nights:

2 - Felony Arrests

20 - Misdemeanor Arrests

2 - Misdemeanor Citations

7 - Civil Protective Custody

1 - located missing endangered subject
