Man sentenced to at least 10 years as habitual criminal

RENO -- A career criminal was sentenced to prison for a term of 10-25 years for numerous theft-related crimes.

Yesterday, Steven Hodges, a 53 year old target of the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender program received a sentence of 10-25 years in the Nevada State Prison by the Honorable Judge Steven Elliott.  The state was represented by Assistant District Attorney Nate Edwards.  Hodges's criminal history spans 28 years and includes 11 prior felony convictions. 

Hodges pled guilty to Burglary and Grand Larceny in September of 2012.  The crimes occurred on March 2 and 3, 2011 when he scaled a barb-wire fence to the rear of Victory Woodworks in Sparks during the hours when the business was closed.  Once inside the fenced area he stolen merchandise in the amount of $1100.00, loaded it up in his vehicle and fled from the area. 

Hodges was on parole for being a Habitual Criminal at the time of these crimes occurrence.  Hodges was once again certified as a Habitual Criminal by the court and received a sentence of 10-25 years for both of the crimes.  This sentence will run consecutive with the time left on his prior sentence.

The Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program is a regional unit comprised of Detectives from the Reno and Sparks Police Departments.
