Man arrested for robbing same store twice

RENO  -- Going back to the scene of a crime is usually not a good idea for a thief, but that didn't deter a man from allegedly robbing, at gun-point, a convenience store two times in a two-week period.

Police have arrested 25-year-old Paul Xavier Espinoza for doing  just that when he robbed the Lucky Gopher Market, 110 E. 2nd Street.

Police say early yesterday morning at around 4, the suspect entered the scene of the crime. Espinoza made a purchase and while paying produced a black handgun robbing the clerk of the cash in the register. He then fled the area north on Center Street.

The clerk stated the suspect was the same person who had robbed him approximately two weeks ago.

This morning at around 2, officers were provided the location of the suspect by local Casino Security Personnel. Officers located Espinoza at the intersection of 2nd/West Streets and he was taken into custody without incident. Espinoza was wearing the same clothing from the morning of the robbery on March 05 and was found in possession of a semi-automatic handgun. Espinoza admitted to committing both robberies.

Espinoza has been charged with 2 counts of armed robbery and carrying a concealed weapon.
