SPARKS -- A man was injured after he was robbed while he was arriving to work early Saturday morning.
Sunday morning at around 7:30 am, two Sparks police officers were flagged down by an employee of a restaurant located in the 1400 block of East Prater Way and advised the officers that he had been robbed in front of the restaurant approximately two hours earlier. The victim stated that as he was arriving at work two male subjects stood in front of his vehicle forcing him to stop. One of the males then went to the drivers side while the other continued to stand in front of the vehicle. The male who approached the drivers side then began demanding the victims wallet and tried to enter the vehicle. The victim managed to roll his window up however the suspect, who was armed with a rock, through the rock through the window. Once the window was broken the suspect reached into the vehicle and took the victims wallet.
The victim received a minor laceration to the left side of his head from the broken glass during the robbery but did not require medical attention. Due to a language barrier it is unknown why the victim did not immediately call the police.
The first suspect is described as possibly Hispanic, 18-20 years of age, approximately 5-6 with a thin build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing black pants and a black hooded sweatshirt. The second suspect is described as an unknown race male, approximately 18-20 years of age, standing approximately 5-10 feet tall with curly shoulder length brown hair. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket. Both subjects were last seen walking west bound on Prater Way and one of them might have had a small white dog with them.
The Sparks Police Department is requesting that anyone who might have witnessed the robbery or may have seen the suspects in the area to contact the the Detective Section at 353-2225 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
