Sex offender/fugitive arrested in Reno

RENO --  There is one less sex offender the community has to worry about as law officials have arrested a man on the run from California were he was convicted.

 On Wednesday, Detectives with the Regional Sex Offender Notification Unit located and arrested 36 year-old Jeremy Thomas Lonick, a fugitive from California.  Lonick was located in the area of 355 Record Street - The Reno/Sparks Gospel Mission - where he was taken into custody without incident.  Officers from the State of Nevada Department of Parole and Probation and Marshals with the United States Marshals Service assisted with the apprehension.

Lonick is a convicted Sex Offender out of California where he is currently on parole.  During an interview with Lonick he admitted to cutting and removing a monitoring ankle bracelet before fleeing to Nevada.  He has been in the Reno area for about 2 months. Lonick has been arrested by the RSONU both in March 2012 and May 2012 for being a fugitive from California.

At the time of his arrest Lonick was in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Lonick was transported to the Washoe County Jail and booked for Sex Offender Fail to Change Address, a felony, Possession of Marijuana, a misd., and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, also a misd.  Bail has been set at $6,000.00.  He is also being held, as a Fugitive, for the California authorities.
