Shoplifter escapes after attacking security officers with a knife

RENO -- A man did everything he could to acquire Christmas gifts when he allegedly stole two computers from a retail store and then attacked the security officers when confronted by them.

Yesterday afternoon at around 4:47, two Walmart Security Officers at 250 Vista Knoll Reno, Nevada attempted to apprehend a shoplifter who had just stolen two laptop computers from the store. A fight ensued, and the suspect retrieved a large knife, and tried to stab both security officers. When the security officers backed away from the suspect, he ran from the store and was last seen entering a large ravine west of the Walmart.

Responding officers from the Reno Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office were unable to locate the suspect and he remains at large.

The suspect is described as an adult white male, approximately 50 years of age, standing  5’10” to 6’-0” tall and weighin 200 lbs. He has gray hair and was last seen wearing dark clothing.
