SWAT Team used in arrest of armed robbery suspect

RENO -- The SWAT Team was called to aid in the arrest of an armed robbery suspect last night in north Reno.

Last night around about 8:30 pm, Reno Police Officers responded to 505 Denslowe Drive in reference to an armed robbery. Police were told two victims were walking in the area of 505 Denslowe Drive when they were approached by two suspects. One suspect was armed with a sawed off shotgun and demanded the victim’s property. One victim handed over some property and the two suspects fled on foot.

Officers developed information that the suspects were at a residence in the 1700 block of Stratford. One suspect exited the residence and surrendered to officers, but another suspect refused to exit. The Reno Police Special Weapons and Tactics Team entered the residence and located the second suspect.

The victim’s property was located along with the weapon used in the armed robbery.

 19-year-old John Stafford was arrested along with a 16-year-old minor.
