Woman sentenced as habitual criminal for theft related crimes

On Tuesday, Sabrina McColgan was sentenced as an habitual criminal and ordered to serve 5-15 years.

 

RENO -- A repeat offender with numerous theft-related convictions has been removed from the streets and will not return until at least 5 years after being sentenced as an habitual criminal.

On Tuesday 44-year-old Sabrina McColgan, a target of the Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program was sentenced to 5-15 years in the Nevada State Prison by the Honorable Judge Janet Berry.

The state was represented by Deputy District Attorney Michael Bolenbaker.  McColgan was adjudicated  as a Habitual Criminal by the court after being presented with 5 prior certified felony convictions.  She had plead guilty last year to one count of Grand Larceny.  

McColgan was employed as a courier in April of 2012 for a local pharmaceutical distribution center.  On April 12, she was accused of embezzling $732.23 worth of prescription medication during her first month of employment.  She was arrested and later in the year plead guilty of one count of Grand Larceny.

McColgan has a criminal history spanning 25 years with 10 felony convictions. 

The Northern Nevada Repeat Offender Program is a regional unit comprised of detectives from the Reno and Sparks Police Departments.
